Privacy Policy

How Florida Boating Info handles information when you visit the site, use the calculators or follow links to other websites.

Effective date: October 3, 2026 · Last updated: October 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you visit FloridaBoatingInfo.com (the "Site"), how it is used, who else may receive it and the choices you have. The Site is operated by Florida Boating Info ("we", "us"). In short: we don't ask you for personal information, we don't use cookies, and we don't sell or share personal information for advertising.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

The Site has no user accounts, logins, sign-up forms or comment sections. We do not ask for your name, address, phone number, email address, Social Security number, bank details or any other personal details to read the guides or use the calculators.

If you contact us (see Contact), we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address and message, and use it only to reply to you and to improve the Site.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our web server automatically records technical information each time a page is requested:

  • your IP address;
  • browser type and version, and operating system;
  • the page or file requested, the date and time, and the referring page;
  • for clicks on financing buttons, the page the click came from (for example, "boat-loan-calculator"). This is recorded without any information that identifies you.

Calculator inputs

The Boat Loan Calculator works in your browser. The values you enter (boat price, down payment, interest rate, loan term, trade-in and sales tax) are not tied to your identity and are not stored in an account. When you press Calculate Payment, those values are added to the page address (URL) so the result can be shown and shared, which means they can appear in the server log described above. Don't enter personal information into the calculator fields.

2. How we use information

We use the information above only to:

  • deliver the Site and keep it working;
  • protect the Site against abuse, fraud and security threats;
  • understand, in aggregate, which pages and tools are useful so we can improve them;
  • reply to messages you send us; and
  • comply with legal obligations.

We do not use it to build profiles of individual visitors, and we do not sell it.

3. Cookies and tracking

The Site does not set cookies and does not use advertising pixels, cross-site tracking or behavioral advertising.

Preferences saved in your browser. To avoid showing you the same messages again, the Site saves two small values in your browser's local storage: that you closed the cookie notice, and the date you closed the "Planning a boat purchase?" pop-up (so it stays hidden for 7 days). They contain no personal information, are never sent to us or anyone else, and you can delete them at any time by clearing your browser's site data. We do not currently use a web analytics service. If we add analytics or any other technology that collects information about your use of the Site, we will update this policy first.

Do Not Track. Because the Site does not track visitors across other websites, there is nothing for a "Do Not Track" browser signal to switch off; the Site works the same whether or not your browser sends one. We do not allow third parties to collect information about your online activities across different websites through the Site.

4. Third parties that receive information

  • Google Fonts. The Site's typeface (Montserrat) is loaded from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address and browser information. Google describes how it handles this in the Google Fonts privacy FAQ (opens in a new tab) and the Google Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab).
  • Hosting provider. The Site runs on servers operated for us; they process the server logs described above on our behalf.
  • Vantage Recreational Finance. Buttons such as Apply for Boat Financing take you to the official application of Vantage Recreational Finance, an independent company. We do not send Vantage your personal information. Anything you enter on Vantage's website is collected by Vantage and governed by Vantage's own privacy policy and terms, not this policy. Florida Boating Info may be compensated when visitors apply through these links.
  • Other websites. The Site links to official sources (for example, state and federal agencies) and to manufacturers' websites. Those sites have their own privacy practices.
  • Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety and security of the Site and its users.

5. How long we keep information

Server logs are kept only as long as reasonably needed for security, troubleshooting and aggregate statistics, and then deleted. Messages you send us are kept only as long as needed to respond and for our records.

6. How we protect information

The Site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). We limit access to server logs to people who need it to operate the Site. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we collect very little information precisely so there is less to protect.

7. Your choices and rights

  • You can use the whole Site without giving us any personal information.
  • You can block or limit connections to third-party services such as Google Fonts in your browser settings; the Site will still work with a default font.
  • You can ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, through the Contact page. Because we don't keep accounts, we may need details such as the date, time and IP address of your visit to find server log entries. We will respond within a reasonable time.

Depending on where you live, state privacy laws may give you additional rights. We honor reasonable requests from anyone, wherever they live.

8. Children

The Site is a general-audience site about boating and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Visitors outside the United States

The Site is operated in the United States and intended for people boating in Florida. Information is processed in the United States.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will also show a notice on the Site before the change takes effect.

11. Contact

Questions or requests about this policy: use the Contact page.
